Weston State Hospital Task Force to meet Oct. 12

The Weston State Hospital Task Force will meet on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005, at 10 a.m. in Room 522 of the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources Offices in Building 3 of the State Capitol Complex, Charleston. The agenda will include discussion of architectural services performed to prevent further deterioration of Weston State Hospital, adaptive reuse studies for future use of this National Historic Landmark and other issues pertaining to the hospital. In addition, the task force will discuss the current status of the “Save America’s Treasures” grant and whether further work should be conducted. The meeting is open to the public.

The task force is charged by Executive Order of former Governor Cecil Underwood to administer the “Save Americas’s Treasures” grant for the hospital. The grant of $750,000 was matched by funds appropriated by the West Virginia Legislature. The Weston State Hospital Task Force is led by the West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History. Other task force members include representatives of the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Services, West Virginia Division of Tourism, Office of the Governor, West Virginia Development Office, Lewis County Commission and Weston Revitalization Committee.
