Senator John F. Kennedy will return to Hinton on Wednesday, May 4, and continue his tour of Greenbrier Valley towns on that day, F. L. McNeer, local Kennedy chairman, informed the News today.

Nearly 1,000 persons waited to greet Kennedy here last Wednesday morning, but his visit was unexpectedly cancelled when he was called back to Washington.

Kennedy and his party will arrive in Hinton next Wednesday at 10:20 a.m. and will then go to Alderson, Ronceverte, Lewisburg and White Sulphur for speaking engagements.

The Senator deeply regretted the cancellation of his earlier visit, and expressed his hope that his Hinton friends would turn out to greet him next week. Mrs. Kennedy is expected to accompany him on his trip here.

Meanwhile, Fr[a]nklin D. Roosevelt Jr. who is touring West Virginia in behalf of the Kennedy candidacy, is at the Hotel McCreery today greeting visitors. He will remain here until after 4 p.m., and there is a possibility that he will make a short address from a platform that will be erected on Second Avenue if sufficient persons appear.

Franklin D. Roosevelt Jr., disappointed a large crowd of Hinton residents when he failed to keep a scheduled appearance in the city Friday afternoon.

Roosevelt, who is campaigning in West Virginia on behalf of Senator John F. Kennedy, Democratic presidential aspirant, was scheduled to appear at the Hotel McCreery at 2 p.m. for the purpose of meeting local voters.

No explanation was given for his failure to appear, however Senator Robert C. Byrd took advantage of the Kennedy crowd to campaign in his own behalf as delegate to the National Convention, and told many persons in the crowd that he favored the candidacy of Senator Hubert Humphrey.

In order to make up for his failure to appear here last year, Senator Kennedy is now scheduled to appear in the Hinton area next Wednesday morning.
