Sir
I have the honor to request requisitions for subsistence stores for my company twenty six in number from the first of Sept to the fifteenth at which time they are to be discharged
I also received an order from the Governor - authorizeing [sic] me to raise a new company to - operate in this county This will certainly be a great benefit to the country as neither life nor property would be safe without a squad of Soldiers to protect it. Tell the Governor I highly appreciate his kindness in conferring this honor upon me. And will do all in my power to raise the men. and will also do everything possible to keep order and discipline in the company when raised and at the same time will endeavor to do my whole duty to our cause and country. It is very probable that I shall not be able to raise all the men at once. As many of the men who are now serving- wish to go home a while and see their relations & c And there are not a great many union men out of the company that could be obtained.
If nothing serious should happen I think I shall report to the Governor in person by the twentieth of September.
I have the honor Sir to be your.
