I had Started to Wheeling but circumstances makes it necessary for me to return home this morning I have with me the report of the Election of a Volinteer[sic] Millitia[sic] Co which was made up last week at Troy for home protection there was 50 formed when I left and the company will reach 60 mean This week when the Election was held on Saturdy[sic] last we hat[sic] 46 men 40 of hohom[sic] was present. This Company will include nearly all The Union men in our End of the County and all the balance of the County Only gave 12 Votes against the Ordenance[sic] of Srcession[sic] If you Cannot (?) This Company We Cannot get our in this County JFW Holt was trying to (?) a Company for 8 or 10 days he wanted to fill out the Company to 100 with what he Called good Secesh This the Union Men would not agree to Then no Secesh in the Troy Company I will mail the report to you frome[sic] this place as I &e trim fur
