His Excellency the Governor,
of the State of West Virginia
"Sir
For reasons which I have Stated in a communication to the Adjutant Genl. of the State of West Virginia, to which you are Respectfully refered [sic]. for the grounds (which appear to me as just and good.) for the request, which are by these presents, submitted to your Honor. I request, for the good of the Service, to be Recieved [sic] of any further Command of the 80th Regiment of the Virginia Militia.
