Provenance: This collection was transferred to West Virginia Archives and History at the Cultural Center of West Virginia by the Department of Commerce, 1988. Additional materials were later located to be processed as an accretion in 2025.
Processing Notes: Slides arrived in a box and slide protectors with little to no arrangement based on topic and/date. Slides were then arranged by subject and chronology into protective sleeves. After being put into protective sleeves, slide sleeves were arranged into subseries based on areas of focus; people, events, and places. Creators original markings on slides are unaltered.

Scope and Content: David Cruise was a photographer for the Department of Commerce and Department of Natural Resources. The bulk of the collection is from the late 1950s to early 1960s. This collection photographically documents the 25th-28th/30th governors of West Virginia, a Miss West Virginia winner, cultural festivals, centennial statehood events, historic buildings, rare aerial views of towns, and vehicles.
