HOSTAGES RELEASED
March 17, 1864
Yesterday J. W. Hasley, Jesse Simms and Alexander Handley, who were arrested some time ago as hostages for the return of Sheriff Shaw of Putnam county, and have since been confined in the Atheneum, were released. The conditions are that they give their parole of honor to go to Richmond and endeavor to procure the release of Shaw, and failing in that they are to return and report themselves.
