WOODY SIMMONS

Woodford "Woody" Simmons was a multi-talented musician from Randolph County. A fierce competitor, he has won countless prizes for his accomplished fiddling and banjo playing. He was born in 1911 on Becky's Creek near Huttonsville, and lived close by in Mill Creek. Woody had many stories to tell about his long and adventurous life in the mountains, and he has been one of West Virginia's most colorful personalities. He passed away in 2005.
